California now can pay for premium electricity generated by gas from landfills and dung.
Well…it is good for the environment but not sure how competitive it is in the long run. But I am sure that Hollywood and the green crowd will be willing to pay a premium. Also, green-building will buy it at a premium. I am sure Tesla owners will pay a premium as well. Tesla charging stations can be powered by landfill and dung gas too.
So I think it works out. As long as no one is forced then everything is cool. You want to pay extra for your electricity from renewable sources sure! It’s your money-
Now, I hope that the electricity companies can bring the cost down- with more advanced technology- Not subsidy- Subsidy is our tax money- If the subsidies are the only way then they should have a contract where the electricity companies need to make the price economical within certain number of years.
Overall, I think it’s a positive development. You want green, you can pay for it. I just hope that better technology makes landfill/ dung gas more competitive. Go research!
