Wow- 2021 is way out of control then I thought-
First, we had the Capitol Hill rush. Then we had Facebook, Amazon, and Apple remove Parler.
Then Goldman and Morgan Stanley vowed to not give money to those politicians who did not certify Biden.
I don’t believe in conspiracy theories but this is way too coordinated to be a coincidence. You can say that woke took over firms. But not to this extent.
Somehow all of these firms acting together is spooky and probably wrong.
These are certainly crazy times.
Now, let’s talk about political contributions-
Great that GS and MS are spending less. Yes, they could use that money to give more scholarships and fund other charities- It’s not we don’t have enough lobbying.
However, GS and MS strategy won’t work. Sanders got his money from individuals and there are enough Trump supporters, about 75 million. So the Trump supporting politicians will be fine. In fact they will use the anger against big corporations to fuel their political careers.
I am sure GS and MS have smart people who know this but not sure why they did it anyway.
I think they were forced too somehow- Most firms know to stay out of politics because you will be alienating the other side whatever side you take.
What is most concerning is that GS and MS are pretending to be great law abiding corporations despite all the scandals but now they want to uphold the law. I don’t think most people will buy it-
So again not sure why they they shouted that they won’t fund politicians who did not certify…
I respect the GS and MS for its financial prowess but they are definitely far from being the best upstanding or law abiding corporations…just google their scandals and settlements.
Anyway, very strange times-
Let’s see what other firms jump on the band wagon to state that they won’t support Trump supporting politicians- They will just pour more support for Trump supporting politicians.
Yup, it won’t work as they have intended-
