[Education] Should I Get a Master’s Degree?

I get asked about getting an MA degree a lot…I mean really a lot.

I even got asked by a middle school student…

My answer? Of course, it depends-

In my opinion, you should only get an MA degree if it is necessary.

If you want to do a PhD, then MA will be helpful.

If you need a promotion that requires an MA degree, go get it.

If you really want to learn more then why not-

But remember that MA degrees are expensive!

And many MA degrees will not enable you earn higher income-

Do some googling and you can find some that you should not do (From: Business Insider / Market Watch)

As always do your due diligence!

But what happens if you really want to do an MA?

I suggest first checking out the MA courses from Coursera and edX.

The programs are from reputable schools and the cost is much lower.

Try out some courses and if you like it pursue. If not, just learn and move on-

According to a survey, 32% of bankruptcies have student loans…Remember education is costly in the US and can really hurt you if the MA doesn’t payoff-

So please do your due diligence, try out Coursera and edX first and then decide whether you really need an MA. And make sure you lower your cost of education as much as possible.

Remember costs are certain but benefits are not-
