I was shocked when I heard that Tony Hsieh passed away on Friday.
I thought that it may be fake news or some kind of publicity event by Tony just similar to Virgin’s Richard Branson’s stunts.
But Tony has passed away. At a young age.
I remember when my friend introduced me to Zappos. She ordered five shoes and returned whatever she didn’t like. I thought wow- whoever thought of this idea is a genius! That was Tony Hsieh.
Later I read his book, “Delivering Happiness.”
It was very eye opening. I learned a lot about customer service. How it is everything- Making it easier for the customer to purchase is the key-
Also, I learned a lot about management, building a passion based culture and removing most hierarchy.
I can say that I learned much more from this book then the business courses that I took or heard-
Then Hsieh wowed me again when he tried to revitalize Las Vegas. Very hard project but he has made some progress.
The last time I heard about Hsieh was when he was buying a lot of real estate- And then he passed away.
Too bad that we won’t see his other awesome projects- But still we are thankful for his contribution to the world.
After Zappos, customer service became super important again. He has showed that cities can be revitalized somewhat although difficult.
He has shown us that people can be great and do great things.
We will miss you Tony-
Thank You Jesus for all Your love and mercy. Thank You for giving another blessed day. Let us always cherish every day and give You all the glory Amen-
Rejoice at all times. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
